The Upper East Side home at 988 Fifth Avenue offers three bedrooms, three landscaped terraces, and three outdoor showers for $90,000 a month.
At least four of Fifth Avenue’s luxury apartment houses were designed by James E.R. Carpenter, a leading architect of some of’s finest residential buildings in the early 1900s. One of his prewar edifices, which looms over the storied strip at 988 Fifth Avenue, was built in 1925 with just 12 apartments spread over 14 floors. Over the years, the elegant building has housed notable tenants like Watson B.
There are two bedrooms on the main floor. The smaller suite has five closets, a private bath with a marble shower, and direct terrace access, while the larger primary suite is kitted out with a fireplace, an office niche and a spacious bath. In the custom-fitted dressing room, a spiral staircase winds up to an indoor-outdoor gym that includes a windowed sauna with an east-facing view.
Housekeeping is available from Monday through Friday, plus the building can arrange for fresh flowers to be installed weekly by a local florist. Madison Avenue’s luxury shops and hotspots like Bemelman’s Bar are also just a stone’s throw away for entertainment. Erin Boisson Aries and Dustin Crouse of the Erin Boisson Aries team at Douglas Elliman hold the listing.Demetrius Simms is a digital staff writer at Robb Report.
