ESPN senior NBA writer Brian Windhorst was back with a fresh new critique of Warriors superstar Steph Curry on Thursday, and this time it involved — guess who — the Lakers' LeBron James.
What was almost poetic about it, though, was what preceded his “gulf” comment.as part of an inane segment about whether Curry could ever supplant James on the NBA’s Mount Rushmore, “but to say there’s a gulf here.”after Golden State won last year’s NBA title, Windhorst tried extremely hard to lay out his “I’m a fan of Steph too” credentials.
“I was there for Steph Curry’s four titles. I was in the building, I watched him take the trophy all four times,” Windhorst said, with a staggering number of dramatic pauses. “I wrote a story five years ago where I made the argument that Steph Curry was already a top-10 player because of his accomplishments and the way he changed the game.”
“And Mr. Curry is not LeBron James,” he continued. “I think we have to honor Steph Curry, don’t make this a head-to-head.”
