Saturday's game between the Yankees and Diamondbacks has been postponed due to inclement weather in the forecast. Sunday's game is in jeopardy of being rained out as well.
More weather is expected to pelt the area on Sunday, meaning there’s a good chance that these two teams will be rained out again.
The Diamondbacks, however, are in the thick of the Wild Card race in the National League. They hold the second Wild Card spot as of Saturday morning, jockeying for positioning in the standings. These games are important for them. Lets speculate. Either Arizona’s schedule is tweaked, forcing the Diamondbacks to move their Monday road game against the White Sox back to accommodate for the Yankees’ off day. Or these teams will need to play both of their games on the dayMLB won’t like that latter option as it would put the Diamondbacks at a disadvantage when the Wild Card round begins the following day . Pushing the playoffs back is out of the question, those dates have been set in stone for months.
