He claimed he was not able to complete the work he was supposed to do in exchange for the money because he had to return to drug rehab, the paper reported. However, according to the Ledger, DiBiase also did not specify what work he was supposed to complete in exchange for the funds.
His famous father and his brother, Ted Jr., who also wrestled for in the WWE, also reportedly received money from Mississippi state welfare funds. Ted Sr. and Ted Jr. however, have not been charged. Brett was also listed as a wrestler, although his career — if he has had one —has never reached the prominence of his father or brother.According to the Ledger, DiBiase faces up to five years in prison and $250,000 in fines for the charges he pleaded guilty to.
Mississippi State Auditor Shad White said that $94 million in state funds were misspent. The state is reportedly suing all three DiBiases as well as NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre among others. Favre is suing White as well as sports personalities and former NFL players Shannon Sharpe and Pat McAfee for defaming him in regards to the suit.
