Anchorage police originally arrested and charged Anthony Tinker III with murder after discovering 23-year-old Brad RobertTinker was already in APD custody on multiple charges — including assault and burglary — stemming from, when police said he stole two different vehicles, including a taxi, and crashed them before locking himself inside an apartment.

Police were forced to use gas to get Tinker out of the apartment before taking him into custody, but it wasn’t until two weeks later on Nov. 28 that he was connected to the death of Robert.— 20-year-old Vincent J. Sandifer — had been arrested and charged with the death of Robert. Court documents dated July 12 show that Tinker had all charges against him dismissed by the state, including first-degree murder, two counts of second-degree murder, and one tampering with physical evidence count.

“We believe we charged the wrong person initially,” wrote a department spokesperson when asked why the charges against Tinker were dismissed.
