Wranglers Report: Solovyov emerges as intriguing blue-line prospect for Flames yyc
“That was amazing — it was my first goal of the season and it was in overtime,” he beamed. “Everybody in the locker-room was saying, ‘Congrats, Solo.’ It was amazing.”
Solovyov, selected as a seventh-round long-shot in the 2020 NHL Draft, has vaulted up the depth chart in his second campaign with the farm club.He has been recently sidekicking for Nick DeSimone, a duo that typically draws the toughest matchups. He is a gutsy shot-blocker, a regular on the penalty-kill, and it’s obviously a good sign whenever you get the tap to log shifts in overtime.
“This guy puts it on the line each and every night and his teammates love him, and I think that’s been real key. He senses that. He comes to the rink with the right attitude each day to get better, and I’ve seen a lot of growth in his game here this year. And even if you go back to last year, I’ve seen a ton of growth in him as a young player.”
