WRANGLERS REPORT: Energetic forward Clark Bishop making his mark Flames
Bishop’s name probably isn’t the first one that jumps to mind for Flames fans wondering if there might be help available in the minors. He’s got six goals and six assists in 46 AHL games this season, way less than guys like Matthew Phillips and Connor Zary, who are leading the Wranglers.
“It’s kind of where I’ve seen myself my whole career, as a third or fourth-line guy, an energy guy,” Bishop said. “I try to be good on the PK and be a physical, hard-working player.”Article content He had plenty of AHL experience during that stretch, too, even winning a Calder Cup with the Charlotte Checkers in 2019. So Bishop is definitely a seasoned pro, and that’s made him an important piece for the Wrangles this season.
While there may come a day soon when Bishop gets a call from Flames GM Brad Treliving and is back playing NHL minutes, for now he’s strictly focused on building towards the AHL playoffs with a Wranglers squad that has emerged as a real juggernaut.
