Seasonal workers made homeless by Lake Louise blaze are scrambling to salvage their summer.
Numerous Gofundme pages have also been launched to aid the fire victims — most who hail from outside Alberta and Canada.“My friends, colleagues and I have quite literally lost everything we owned,” Flamsteed said on a Gofundme page.
“Things she lost included her clothes, her snowboarding/outdoor gear, bedding, shoes, sentimental and personal items, bike, electronics, basically everything you can imagine that you have in your home was lost,” Mike Johnson said of his sister, Alexa. “People staying is really going to depend on how quickly we can get options here . . . We’re encouraging people to stay,” said Markham, noting lodging for workers in Banff National Park is at a premium in the best of times.
“There’s never too much housing but if this had happened in the winter, there would have been 400 people .” On Tuesday, RCMP charged Timothy Alexander Peterson, 40, with arson with disregard for human life and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
