Getting closer.
The main pool at the centre in Shrewsbury was closed in July 2022 after routine inspections spotted that corrosion had caused ceiling panels and ventilation units to become unsafe.Shropshire Council says its intention is to allow the main pool to reopen as soon as possible.
Contractors are also scheduled, weather dependent, to replace glazing ahead of the strip out starting. Councillor Rob Gittins, Shropshire Council’s cabinet member for culture and digital, said: “Finding the right contractors to carry out the work at The Quarry has been of vital importance to the successful completion of these works. We are confident we are now in a strong position to make some real progress.
"Customer and staff safety are our priority and developing a successful programme has been at the centre of all our decisions."
