THUNDER BAY — A local woman facing charges in relation to the death of her 90-year-old father has been released on bail.
Mandy Kazoun, 63, appeared before Justice of the Peace Jerry Woods in a Thunder Bay courtroom Wednesday afternoon for a bail hearing. The Crown was not consenting to Kazoun’s release based on tertiary grounds. Woods disagreed and ordered Kazoun released on bail with a $4,000 promise to pay and no deposit. She is required to secure a surety before she is released from custody.
Prior to being admitted to hospital, paramedics were called to a south side residence for reports of a senior who had fallen. The man, later identified as Knibbs, was transported to hospital for treatment and passed away several weeks later. A post-mortem examination determined Knibbs died from complications related to injuries sustained in the fall.
According to police, it was first believed Knibbs fell down the stairs, but investigators became aware of allegations that he may have been pushed.
