Authorities said they located the man wanted in the random killing of 3 people at a convenience store in Yakima, Washington, Tuesday, after he borrowed a stranger’s cell phone to call his mother and confess to what he had done.

Three people are dead after an early morning shooting in Yakima, Washington, and police are still searching for the suspect. Officials said security camera footage and witness reports suggest the shooting was at random and the male shooter did not appear to have any conflict with the victims.

Police had surrounded Haddock’s family home after Tuesday’s pre-dawn killings, but he wasn’t there, Murray said at a news conference. Instead, Haddock had gone to the area of a Target store in the city, where he borrowed a woman’s phone and called his mother.
