Winter Storm Garrett is tracking through the Northeast this morning with heavy snowfall in some areas. Travel headaches are likely in the region today:

Garrett is now producing snow across the Interstate 95 corridor of the Northeast. Bands of localized heavier snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour are possible this morning from the New York City Tri-State Area into southeastern New England. A number of winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories have been issued by the National Weather Service from the Appalachians to New England for Garrett. Warnings are in effect where driving conditions will be dangerous, if not impossible.Snow will come to an end in most locations from around the New York City metro to the mid-Atlantic on Friday morning.
Officially, Nashville picked up 6.3 inches of snow, making it the heaviest calendar day snowfall there since January 2016. Parts of the metro area saw as much as 8 inches.
