Cash was convicted Friday for causing the death of one man, and wounding a second, when they tried to prevent Cash from luring a woman into a prostitution ring.

The deceased man, Leonard Clement, was walking home from an Easter service at church with Prince Berlin, then 41, when they came upon Cash assaulting a woman in Central Square. Both men intervened on the woman's behalf, and Cash left the scene, only to return and retaliate with gunfire. Authorities said that Cash had been trying to lure the woman, whom Clement and Berlin knew, into a prostitution ring.

Clement, 46, disabled and legally blind, passed away at Union Hospital of his injuries. Berlin survived the shooting, but later died of unrelated causes. William Cash, formerly Massachusetts State Police's Most Wanted Man, was convicted Friday of double shooting that left one man dead.According to MassLive and the Essex County DA office, Cash, 47, was convicted by a jury in Salem Superior Court after an eight-day trial and three days of deliberation.

The jury acquitted him of a separate assault and battery with a dangerous weapon charge related to the human trafficking charge.Massachusetts State Police
