Hockey Canada says minor hockey players must now wear a base layer at all times while in change rooms, but kids are left in the dark as to why.

This is because all players have the right to access “safe, inclusive and equitable dressing spaces,” Hockey Canada said in the introduction to the policy. In an email to CBC Kids News, Hockey Canada said the policy was designed to “enhance the safety” of all participants. Tayden’s mom, Kirstin Weerdenburg, said she thinks kids would be more motivated to follow the policy if Hockey Canada explained the changes in a way kids can understand.
