The average parent shares over 1,500 images of their child online before their 5th birthday. Here, model Sarah Tarleton talks about the pros and cons of online motherhood
and I shared my struggles with my audience. The response was overwhelmingly supportive and kind. I also began to have messages from other women who were similarly struggling and enjoyed my honesty about pregnancy. With anything online, I think it’s important to be cautious. Especially so when the ‘eyes on’ is such a large number. I know that just writing this I’m opening myself up for scrutiny. Social media didn’t exist when I was a child, and we are all navigating this new normal and trying to find our own way. In all honesty, I don’t always feel confident that my way is the correct way, but I think that’s the theme of parenting. Our daughter is the most content little soul, but I still worry about every decision I make.
