Would you charge guests for Christmas dinner? 🍽️
According to a survey carried out by TopCashback one in 20 of us are charging our nearest and dearest an average of £35 a head for the Christmas meal. We have spoken to two people who are doing this.
‘We like to lay on a three or four course meal for Christmas dinner and that would be hard to do this year without asking for a contribution’, says Mark who lives in South Lanarkshire and works in a call centre alongside Rebecca. ‘We all have to pull together at times like this’. ‘My mother wasn’t too happy about it when I asked for £10 each for her and my father. She said “I’m your mother, you should be doing this for me”, but I expect it will be water under the bridge by Christmas. My sister understands and said she would do the same‘We usually try and have some finger food like cheese bites prior to the meal but I think we’ll cut back on those this year.
