WHO sees 'welcome slowing' of cases in hardest-hit countries, warns against lifting restrictions

"[The] WHO wants to see restrictions lifted as much as anyone. At the same time, lifting restrictions too quickly could lead to a deadly resurgence. The way down can be as dangerous as the way up if not managed properly," WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said. Tedros said that the WHO is especially concerned about the high level of health-care workers infected across the globe. He said that in some countries, reports indicated up to 10% of health workers are infected with COVID-19.
