Bridges caught the league by surprise with his offensive improvement, going from a solid scorer but more of an afterthought to a borderline “second option on a good team” wing. He really evolved as a go-to guy as the months went on in the year and the Hornets made it to the Play-In . Poole, the people’s champ, didn’t have as strong of a case as the others, but he turned a positive spell as a second unit hub into a legitimate weapon on a championship team.
Gilgeous-Alexander also made his first All-Star appearance this season and he did it with a massive jump in his fifth NBA season. The 24-year-old guard has been in charge of running things in Oklahoma City since his third NBA season and this year, he added nearly seven points per game to his scoring average by embracing his unique skill set and taking more mid-range jumpers while cutting out 3-point attempts.
But all three players on my ballot have elevated their profiles and, at the very least, taken full advantage of their opportunities. I’m giving the edge to Brunson here because he’s at a premium position on a team that has a 39-27 record.
