The Bruins got tougher to play against, tougher to take the puck from, and tougher to match up with — all lessons learned from last year’s seven-game defeat at the hands of the Hurricanes.
Carolina has had Boston’s number for the past two years, infamously going 3-0-0 last season while outscoring Boston 16-1 in the process. Their playoff series was closer, but the Hurricanes still prevailed with a plus-four goal differential. This year the Hurricanes are 1-0-1 and plus-2. Sunday’s dominant 6-0 win against the Lightning was a testament to the kind of power this team has. This is an incredibly balanced team, the league’s deepest group.
