The Super Mario Bros. Movie enjoyed an impressive run in theaters that ended quite a while ago, and the iconic plumber's streaming arrival cannot come soon enough. The relationship between when a movie first releases and when it moves to streaming services can be hard to predict, and certainly more variable than traditional home video releases.

Sonic the Hedgehog 2 followed a shorter timeline, as it was released in April 2022 and hit Paramount+ at the end of May 2022. However, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish took longer to become available. It was released in December 2022 and moved to Peacock in March 2023. The film most comparable to The Super Mario Bros. Movie is Minions: The Rise of Gru, another Illumination film that was released on July 1, 2022, debuted on Peacock on Sept.
Why The Super Mario Bros. Movie Is Streaming On Peacock The reason behind The Super Mario Bros. Movie heading to Peacock rather than Netflix is due to a contract between Netflix and Universal. This contract stipulates that Netflix has an opportunity to stream the studio’s films only after a four-month viewing window on Peacock. As a result, The Super Mario Bros. Movie could leave Peacock sometime in December and arrive on Netflix immediately afterward.
