Yevgeny Prigozhin, the founder and leader of the mercenary Wagner Group, is reportedly among the casualties in a deadly plane crash in Russia. But there are are many questions about the events that unfolded.
There is only one recorded accident involving a Legacy 600, according to International Aviation HQ, which occurred in 2006 when it crashed mid-air into a Gol Boeing 737-800 on its way from the Embraer factory in Brazil to the United States.
It also said that three of the 10 crash victims were crew members. The other seven, including Prigozhin and Utkin, were passengers. Russia's Interfax news agency — citing emergency officials — reported early Thursday that all 10 bodies had been recovered at the site of the crash and the search operation had ended.Russian investigators opened a criminal probe to determine what happened. Some unnamed sources told Russian media they believed the plane had been shot down by one or more surface-to-air missiles — though Reuters could not confirm that.
