What to see at the NAC this summer: There are 200 performances planned, and many are free

On the other stages in the building, the offerings range from music and dance to theatre and storytelling. A few highlights: A play called Adrenaline by Syrian playwright Ahmed Meree that examines the effects of war runs July 18-23 at Fourth Stage; Travis Knights demonstrates the expressive power of tap-dancing on July 22 at Babs Asper Theatre; Middle Eastern singer Nidal Ibourk, who was a semi-finalist on the Lebanese version of The Voice, performs on July 8 at the Babs; and Canadian pop songstress Jane Siberry will light up in the Azrieli Studio on Aug. 19.
In other NAC news, a free lunch-time concert series featuring artists from the Ottawa-Gatineau region launched this week. Jukebox Lunch concerts take place at noon on Thursdays at Peter Herrndorf Place inside the NAC. Featured artists include King Kimbit on May 11, Sophia Duhaime on May 18 and Aspects on June 1, while bluesman Lyle Odjick and his band, Northern Steam, wrap up the series on June 15.
