This year’s broadcast is purportedly set to be “slimier than ever”.
The 49ers and Cowboys are two of the NFL’s storied franchises, having won five Super Bowls each. They’ve faced each other seven times in the playoffs, with five of those matchups coming with a date in the Super Bowl on the line.
But neither Joe Montana nor Steve Young, neither Roger Staubach nor Troy Aikman has ever played in a game like Sunday’s matchup. The NFC wild-card showdown will be the second annual Slime Game, aired on Nickelodeon in addition to a traditional broadcast on CBS . The Nick broadcast aims to get kids interested in football in the NFL’s never-ending attempt to secure lifelong viewers, even as platforms change on the TV landscape.
There will be Spongebob Squarepants graphics between the goalposts, kid-friendly rule explanations and slime dumped after every touchdown.at the first-ever game aired on Nickelodeon, last year’s wild-card matchup between the Saints and Bears.
