The I-Team continues to investigate the issue of chronic absenteeism.

Scattered frost may harm some of your plants without protection.Experts pointed the I-Team to the state of Rhode Island, where they're using an all-hands-on-deck approach to tackle chronic absenteeism. The I-Team continues to investigate the issue of chronic absenteeism in schools and ways to fight it.
After discussing the issue, the I-Team asked Scala about what's working in other parts of the country."They've gotten mayors involved in terms of really having mayors sign onto kind of an agreement of understanding the importance. They've gotten pediatricians to sign on as well, about talking with parents when their children are in the doctor's office early on about the importance of regular attendance and really kind of making this a broader community type of effort.
Infante-Green says data from last school year shows the effort is paying off, with 244,375 fewer absences last year compared to the 2022-23 school year. According to data, 57 of 64 school districts in the state saw fewer chronically absent students.that gives you day-by-day data, and what we did was partner with the governor, so the governor actually calls schools that are doing better and says 'Hey, congratulations at the end of the week,'" said Infante-Green.
"You have to start from the top saying 'This matters; here are the things that we're going to do to support you," she said. "Even just that has an impact."
