Martian invaders quickly subjugate humanity, as Ray tries to stay one step ahead of their walking"tripods" and rayguns.have to do with the fate of Ray's son Robbie , who abandons his father and sister midway through the movie to join U.S. Marines in a desperate frontal assault on the aliens.
