Production designers have the privilege of traveling to exotic locations and constructing worlds from scripts, but also are responsible for managing large production teams.
NBCBLK interviewed three African-American production designers — Hannah Beachler , Wynn Thomas and Deirdra Govan — and asked them about their influences, how they got into the business and what Beachler's Oscar win means for the future of the industry.I just finished working on a project with Bruton Jones. When you work with someone like that you just become awestruck because it’s us creating these worlds and you don’t really get that kind of attention.
