Record-breaking rain spoiled NASCAR's debut in Chicago in 2023. They're trying again this weekend to build the brand in a major city.
Drivers compete in the Loop 121 NASCAR Xfinity Series auto race Saturday, July 1, 2023, in downtown Chicago. The series’ inaugural weekend in downtown Chicago last year saw both the Xfinity and Cup series events shortened due to wet weather. A lot of wet weather. In fact, almost 9 inches of rain fell over two days, canceling the planned concerts in addition to cutting down the length of the races.
The Xfinity Series will hold practice and qualifying on Saturday morning and then race a few hours later at 3:30 p.m. EDT. That race is called The Loop 110. There is rain in the forecast but it looks to be far more spotty than last year’s storms. Showers and thunderstorms are a possibility on Friday and Sunday, according to
