'The initial idea of a black pudding sandwich didn't seem too alien, but the addition of salad cream was an unexpected twist' | susannewtonx
Whether you reminisce over your favourite packed lunch, a delicious pudding or your favourite meal only your mum could make, we all have something that reminds us of simpler times. For myself, I think of eating cucumber sandwiches when I was poorly, or my mum's very own freezer special - a classic chicken nuggets and chips.
All I really have to say on this one is that it was a textural nightmare. As soon as the milk hit the bread, it did the inevitable and made it go beyond soggy, to the point of no return and absolutely no need for chewing. Like with the bread and milk, as soon as the bread entered the dissolved oxo cube, it immediately succumbed to the liquid and heat and just became another mushy nightmare. Catching it quickly before it disintegrated before my eyes, the taste was actually a lot more pleasant than I expected.
I was inclined to agree with this assumption, but having tried it, poster Karen Bond might actually be on to something here. As a fan of black pudding, I was happy to try this dish and the addition of salad cream gave it a much welcome tang, not for everyone I admit, but I certainly wasn't offended. This one definitely stood out above the rest on the list.
