The Connecticut bakery lost about 60 cupcakes and some coconut cake, but no one was hurt.
in Avon, Conn. was in the loading garage in the back of the shop when she looked up and saw a bear staring at her, the bakery wrote on Facebook.
Bakery owner Miriam Stephens wrote that she heard employee Maureen Williams “screaming bloody murder and then yelling ‘there’s a bear in garage.’”She ran into the kitchen and another woman called 911. “Lisa then had a brilliant idea to go out the front and get in her car to drive around back and she started beeping her horn like a crazy person,” the bakery wrote. “She finally got him out and Maureen ran to the garage to close it as fast as she could.”
But it was too late for many of the cupcakes. The bear had destroyed 60 cupcakes and “a bunch of coconut cake.”shows bakery workers walking around the side of the business to try to scare the bear, but then running away after it scares them.“All I can say is even the bears know where to go for the best treats,” Lynn Smith wrote.
