At least five people are dead and over 40 are injured in Waukesha, Wis., after an SUV plowed into a Christmas parade, the city said
WAUKESHA, Wis.—A red SUV plowed through police barricades and into a local Christmas parade Sunday afternoon, killing five people and injuring more than 40, the city said.
Police have recovered the vehicle and a person of interest is in custody, city police Chief Daniel Thompson said. The city wouldn’t confirm the names of those killed until next of kin notifications could be completed, he said late Sunday. The police were working with the medical examiner to confirm fatalities, he said. The investigation is ongoing.
