A behind-the-scenes video from Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One showcases more death-defying stunt work from star Tom Cruise.

A Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One stunt video shows off more death-defying work from star Tom Cruise. The upcoming project is the seventh entry in the movie franchise, which is based on the 1966 television series of the same name and debuted with Brian De Palma's Mission: Impossible in 1996. Dead Reckoning Part One is the first of a two-part cinema event that may conclude Cruise's tenure in the role of superspy Ethan Hunt.

Today, Paramount Pictures shared a behind-the-scenes stunt video from the movie, two weeks ahead of the official Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One release date on July 12. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT "With Tom, there are no limits," brags director Christopher McQuarrie at the beginning of the video, which showcases the actor speedflying, a sport that involves a perilous parachute drop and high-speed winds. The featurette showcases both the challenges of keeping Cruise alive during the sport and filming it in a way that will be satisfying to audiences.

Tom Cruise's Commitment to Stunts Has Paid Off While the Mission: Impossible franchise has always been action and stunt-driven, this realistic approach to major stunts didn't truly kick off until the fourth movie, 2011's Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. That outing featured Cruise rappelling down the Burj Khalifa, a dazzling stunt that the succeeding films have continued to try and one-up.

Tom Cruise's commitment to real-life stunts has bled into another franchise as well, with the high-flying aerial stunts of Top Gun: Maverick helping push the 2022 title to become the fifth highest-grossing movie of all time. While Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One might not reach quite that high, it could very well break the franchise record off the back of these new stunts.
