Fran Belibi threw down her third collegiate dunk in the second quarter of Stanford’s first round game Friday night
Belibi initially threw down her first two college dunks in back-to-back weeks, on Dec. 13, 2020 at Cal and then at UCLA a week later. But this was her first dunk in front of fans, and the Maples Pavilion crowd reacted thunderously.
It’s the first dunk in a women’s NCAA Tournament game since Brittney Griner did so in 2013. Candace Parker also has previously dunked in the NCAA Tournament, too. 1-seed Stanford didn’t allow a point to 16-seed Montana State in the first quarter, carrying a 20-0 lead after one and a 41-12 lead at halftime.
