Testifying before a House subcommittee, federal scientist Rick Bright said the Trump administration ignored early warnings about the coronavirus. He said he was told his 'urgings were causing a commotion' and that he was removed from relevant meetings.
Bright added that"time is running out" and that the window is closing to address the pandemic"because we still do not have a standard, centralized, coordinated plan to take our nation through this response."
Bright said he will"never forget" emails he received from the head of a Texas company that produces surgical masks saying that the nation's supply chain for PPEs was completely decimated as the coronavirus pandemic began.Bowen, who is also testifying, is vice president of surgical mask producer Prestige Ameritech. "A lot of optimism is swirling around a 12- to 18-month time frame, if everything goes perfectly," he said, adding,"We've never seen everything go perfectly."Azar pushed back on Bright's testimony at the White House Thursday, telling reporters,"Everything he's complaining about was achieved."
