Directed by Joel Kefali and Ella Yelich-O’Connor , the music video for “Secrets From a Girl ” was released on March 22 and features three different versions of Lorde — literally and figuratively.
The first Lorde opens up the video by waking up at shore, dressed in red crop top and matching tailored pants, wearing her hair in an updo. She soon meets our second Lorde, who's dressed in a cream-colored top with puff sleeves and a matching flared skirt, donning loose hair and a vampy lip. Lorde Number Three enters the scene soon after, with more eclectic sartorial choices — she wears a textured top with a sunflower design, printed pants, and a straw hat.
Throughout the course of the video, we see Lorde harmonizing with herself, playing jump rope, dancing, and acting as her own shoulder to lean on while musing the song, which was originally released on August 20, 2021.Of course, as with any Lorde release, fans are already deconstructing the music video and analyzing the references.
