Have you had a chance to visit the new kid on the block at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo?
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- For only the second time in its 141-year history, the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo celebrates a birth among its gorilla troop. Starting Wednesday, July 26, visitors to the zoo can see the baby in its habitat at the Primate, Cat & Aquatics building.
“This is a huge moment for us here at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo,” said Associate Animal Curator Elena Less. “This is the largest and most dynamic our gorilla group has ever been.” “We had Keyembe in 2021 and he’s doing great. He’s almost 2 now so he’s bopping all around, trying to touch the baby. He was hitting mom on the head with a branch the other day. He’s up to all sorts of trouble,” Less said with a smile.
