Like Warriors’ Draymond Green in Game 1, Grizzlies’ Dillion Brooks ejected for flagrant two foul in Game 2
After winning 117-116 in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals on Sunday, Warriors coach Steve Kerr and several players predicted Game 2 on Tuesday evening in Memphis would be more physical.
It didn’t take long for Golden State to be proven correct, or for the Warriors to lose a key player to injury. Just like Draymond Green in Game 1, Memphis’ Dillon Brooks was ejected in Game 2 for a Flagrant 2 foul on guard Gary Payton II— that was, at least for a moment, initially ruled a common foul on the floor.
The Warriors were incensed by the play, which sent Payton to the trainers’ room where he was ruled out for the remainder of the game with an elbow injury. “That wasn’t physical, that was dirty,” Kerr said in an interview with TNT sideline reporter Jared Greenberg after the first quarter.
