🏠 A new report says a “war effort” is needed to insulate homes in 2023 – after officials failed to take the opportunity “during the warmer months of 2022” when it became clear that consumers would be facing a huge rise in energy costs this winter

Juliet Phillips of climate think-tank E3G said that energy efficiency is “the number one solution to cut energy bills and emissions in the near-term” amid the transition away from fossil fuels.

“We have to be far more ambitious and move much more quickly to do this, supply chains and skills need to be scaled up across the country – something that won’t happen overnight. The committee’s report warned there are “significant gaps” in the Government’s Energy Security Strategy published following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine due to a lack of emphasis on energy-saving measures.
