Amanda Mills suffered several injuries, including a broken wrist bone and permanent injuries to her breasts during the February 2022 traffic stop, her attorney, John Pfleiderer, said.
CLEVELAND, Ohio — A Walton Hills police officer grabbed a woman by the arm and ripped her from her car during a traffic stop after she started recording the officer with her cellphone, according to a lawsuit.
She “was subject to violent, unnecessary and needless abuse” by officers and that she suffered pain, mental and emotional harm and deprivation of civil rights because of the incident, Pfleiderer wrote in the lawsuit.Walton Hills Law Director John Montello declined to comment because the village hasn’t seen the lawsuit.
The officer was “irate” as he exited the cruiser and screamed at Mills, according to the lawsuit. He ordered Mills to get out of her car. Mills asked for a reason, and she started recording on her phone. The officer noticed her recording, according to the lawsuit. Both officers slammed Mills into the side of the police cruiser, the lawsuit said. She begged the officers to stop because “she was in tremendous physical pain,” the lawsuit said. Mills yelled to the officers that she was in pain and wasn’t resisting arrest.
