Wall Street analysts are saying that Ford did not cut enough jobs in its restructuring, and needs to axe another 15,000 white-collar jobs to achieve its targets
The 2019 Ford Ranger is among the vehicles Ford has high hopes for as it trims small cars and sedans from lineup.Morgan Stanley's Adam Jonas issued a report, a rebuke of Hackett, suggesting that the automaker needs to cut 23,000 jobs to achieve its profitability goals, three times the 7,000 that the company announced on Monday.
"Ford disclosed that the 7k headcount cuts will save $600 million annually, or an average of $86k per worker," said an investment report dated May 21."Our ... require more than a further 23k salaried headcount reductions." Ford's announcement of 7,000 white-collar cuts on Monday did not extend to cuts to hourly workers or plant closures. That is because Ford since 2000, has shrunk its manufacturing footprint to an optimized level, and its plants are operating at efficient levels.
