Daryl has some new friends in set photos from TheWalkingDeadDarylDixon spinoff.
The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon set photos provide a first look at Norman Reedus’ Daryl alongside new characters. Daryl rode his motorcycle off into the sunset for the last time in the closing moments of 2022’s emotional The Walking Dead series finale. But his hiatus from screens will indeed be short-lived, as the fan-favorite character is set to return in a 2023 spinoff show.
Joining Reedus on The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will be The Essex Serpent star Clémence Poésy, who can be seen working with her new co-star in just-revealed set photos from the highly-anticipated TWD spinoff. SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY In the photos , Reedus’ Daryl appears to have made some new friends in Paris, the city he ends up in after he “washes ashore in France.” According to Reedus himself, Daryl is a fish-out-of-water in the new show, but clearly he doesn’t waste any time gaining new allies, as the above photos attest. Giving Daryl Dixon a love interest in the new show would of course be a big move, given the strange and somewhat mysterious way the character’s romantic life has been treated in the past. TWD initially treated Daryl as a lone wolf of course, and it was even possible to read the character as gay, given his apparent aversion to romance with women. The show then briefly seemed to flirt with making Daryl and Maggie’s sister Beth an item, but then Beth was killed off.
Daryl indeed did not get a proper love interest on TWD until season 10, when the show revealed his relationship with the mysterious cabin-dwelling Leah. But that relationship was obviously doomed, as Leah turned out to be an enemy, who was finally killed by Daryl himself. Considering that dark bit of Daryl history, perhaps The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon would be better off not giving its main character a true love interest, instead pairing him with a new French version of his BFF Carol.
