Funds raised support services like the First Link Dementia Helpline, and fitness and social programs like Minds in Motion in communities across B.C.

“The IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer's is instrumental in changing the lives of more than 85,000 people living with dementia and their caregivers,” Laurie De Croos, support and education coordinator for the Alzheimer Society of B.C. said. “Not only is it a significant fundraiser for the society, enabling us to provide vital programs and services, it rallies a community of support around people affected by dementia, and lets them know that they are not alone.

The Northern B.C. Walk honours Sandi and Florent Foucher, community members who have been affected by dementia.Residents are invited to sign up for the walk as individuals or may set up a team of family, friends or coworkers and show people on the dementia journey that they are not alone. There’s a big incentive added to this year’s walk that sees Northern B.C. residents become eligible to win $1,000 when they participate in the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s that takes place across the province in 20 communities. The walk is an important opportunity to raise awareness about dementia, challenge the stigma associated with the disease and raise funds to support British Columbians on the dementia journey.

Funds raised support vital programs and services like the First Link Dementia Helpline, and fitness and social programs like Minds in Motion in communities across B.C. Registration on May 28 takes place at the YMCA of Northern BC at 1 p.m. and the walk starts at 1:30 p.m.
