This isn't the first time the store has received backlash on this issue. In January 2018, Essie Grundy, a Black woman in California,against Walmart for racial discrimination, claiming the company violated her civil rights by displaying Black personal care products in locked anti-theft cases.
, a CVS spokesperson addressed the situation, writing, "We have a firm non-discrimination policy that applies to all aspects of our business and our product protection measures have never been based on the race or ethnicity of our customers.
