Volvo plans to make a self-driving system available as a subscription on its XC90 replacement.
“We are proud to announce the planned U.S. launch of our first truly unsupervised autonomous driving feature, as we look to set a new industry standard for autonomy without compromising safety,” Mats Moberg, Volvo's head of R&D, said in a statement.
Volvo's various self-driving features will rely on software developed by the in-house self-driving division Zenseact, as well as multiple sensors including lidar.developed in partnership with Mobileye. Zeekr said it plans to have its vehicle available in 2024.
