More than 160 troops have formed across Mexico to search for the missing, with some participants looking to ease their own pain.
With nearly 100,000 people recorded as missing in Mexico's government registry, volunteer groups and activists across the country have made it their mission to find the missing or their remains, the Associated Press reported.
The fact that more relatives and volunteers have been increasingly involved in searches for the missing comes from the government's decreased capacity to curb violence and the viable power of criminal groups, she added.With nearly 100,000 people recorded as missing in Mexico’s government registry, volunteer groups and activists across the country have made it their mission to uncover the remains of many presumed to be dead.
The group, which includes relatives of the disappeared, members of the government's National Search Commission, activists and a couple of National Guard soldiers with dogs, moved on to a different spot. Tranquilina Hernández has been looking for her daughter Mireya since she disappeared on a September afternoon seven years ago after going out with her boyfriend in Cuernavaca, the state capital.
"The fact that we don't get a positive in the brigade doesn't mean that it isn't good work," said the 38-year-old González. The act of searching is a"blessing" for the area famlies and"helps them get over the anxiety," she said.
