Ella Thompson had a varsity debut to remember, leading Lincoln-Way Central to a stirring 26-24, 13-25, 25-19 win over Lincoln-Way East.

Thompson had her first kill right away in the first game, landing a tip that put the Knights in front 16-15. She did it again for their next point and later added a block.A first varsity game? It seemed as if she had been a varsity regular all season.

They’re so experienced and aggressive, it made it easy.“I was definitely nervous thinking about playing the match. But when I stepped on this court, I decided to shake off all of my nervousness and just play my game.”

Thompson once again stepped up in the clutch in the third game. The Knights were ahead just 16-14 when she came up with big blocks. She later added a final tip for kill. After every good play, Thompson had a look of total amazement on her face.
