'Own worst enemy'
It's finally starting to feel like spring, the flowers are blooming and the weather is getting milder.
But despite it being 'absolutely beautiful' lots of people have taken to TripAdvisor to complain about how busy it can be. One person even claims 'its popularity can be its worst enemy.'From the moment you step on the fell you can start to enjoy sensational panoramic views over Keswick, Derwent Water and Borrowdale. Add to this to the West the views of Newlands Valley and the Western Fells making this walk unrivalled in spectacular views.
But over the years, they aren't the only people to point out how busy Catbells is. Another commented in April last year: "If you're a keen walker try and get up early as it can get busy with day tourists from Keswick. If you're not a keen walker, this could really whet your appetite."A third person left this comment in May last year: "Catbells is a challenging walk as it’s so steep but it is absolutely worth it! The views over Derwent Water are stunning.
Another added: "A wonderful family/ introductory fell, with wonderful views over Derwentwater and over to Newlands Valley. Cannot count how many times I’ve walked up this lovely and now very familiar fell over the past 50+ years, but every time is a delight.
