A video of a 'distressed elderly woman being filmed by a carer' that was posted on social media has led to an arrest being made.
The clip was initially posted on Snapchat, but has since been shared to TikTok and other platforms. This has prompted police to launch an investigation. Officers have confirmed that a 25-year-old woman from Westhoughton has been arrested on suspicion of wilful neglect. , the MEN reports.The 25-year-old has since been bailed pending further enquiries. Officers and officials from partner agencies are conducting an investigation into the incident and are supporting the woman and her family,
A force statement said: "Greater Manchester Police are aware of a video circulating online of a distressed elderly female being filmed by a carer which has been posted to Snapchat. On Tuesday 24 January 2023, officers arrested a 25-year-old female from the Westhoughton area on suspicion of wilful neglect.
"The female has now been released on bail while further enquiries are completed in relation to the investigation. GMP are currently working with our partner agencies who are currently supporting the lady and her family at this time and would like to thank members of the public for bringing this to police attention."
