"That truck is not safe no matter what," one man said after his GMC truck, which he'd only had for a few months, was stolen right from his job's parking lot.At least 40 cars are stolen a day in the city of Houston, according to Sgt. Tracy Hicks with the Houston police's Auto Theft division.
"I can take the engines, especially out of any of those from a '17 to a '21, and put them in anything," Sgt. Hicks said. "The fenders, the tailgates, the parts can be used on any vehicle."Statistics show that in the first six months of 2022, 185 Tahoes, at least 46 Yukons, and at least 28 Suburbans were stolen in the city.
"To walk outside, see your vehicle not where you parked it, it's very upsetting," Olivarez said. "Your day, week, month, even your year goes bad. It's a lot of money you lose."Olivarez called the police, but his truck was never seen again.
