Vancouver Giants have said that veteran defenceman Carson Haynes (upper body injury) will be out for the rest of the season.
Haynes missed 18 games this season with various injuries — he finished with three goals, 15 points and a plus-five rating in 50 games — so Vancouver is accustomed to playing without him. They’ve had to regularly make adjustments to the lineup all season, considering the games missed of regulars Samuel Honzek , Colton Langkow , Kyle Bochek and Ethan Semeniuk , who are all forwards.
Haynes’ regular duties will be spread among Anderson, 19-year-olds Brenden Pentecost and Damian Palmieri, 17-year-old Mazden Leslie and rookies Will Subject and Colton Roberts, who are 17 and 16, respectively. Also available is Colton Alain, 15, who was Vancouver’s third-round pick in last spring’s WHL Draft and will be with the club for the rest of the season now that his minor hockey year is over. He played in four of the final five regular-season Giants’ games.
