Va. Gov. Glenn Youngkin sorry for crack about Paul Pelosi attack
“My full intention on my comments was to categorically state that violence and the kind of violence that was perpetrated against Speaker Pelosi’s husband is not just unacceptable, it’s atrocious. And I didn’t do a great job with that,” Youngkin’s note to the speaker said, according to a statement from his office on Wednesday.
“And so listen, it was a personal note and it was one between me and the speaker, just to reflect those sentiments,” it said. Hours after the attack on 82-year-old Paul Pelosi at the couple’s home in San Francisco, Youngkin was speaking at a campaign rally for a Republican congressional candidate in Virginia.

DePape, 42, told investigators that he had intended to hold Nancy Pelosi hostage, but the speaker wasn’t home at the time. “DePape stated that he was going to hold Nancy hostage and talk to her. If Nancy were to tell DePape the ‘truth,’ he would let her go, and if she ‘lied,’ he was going to break her kneecaps,” the police said DePape admitted in an interview.
